There's a good reason why Unionville is known as the "Gateway to the Thumb"-- it's the place that people drive through to get to all sorts of places in Michigan's Thumb. That makes it a convenient place to start your adventure!
From the Bavarian Festival to Oktoberfest, from the Ice Fest to the Summer Music Fest, Frankenmuth, Michigan, attracts visitors year round to "Michigan's Little Bavaria." No matter what time of year you're visiting, there's something to see and do. And no trip to the Thumb would be complete without sampling the fried chicken at Zehnder's or picking up a Christmas ornament at Bronner's.

Bay City is an historic city on Saginaw Bay. It grew up around the lumber industry and still has a unique feel all its own. You can taste its heritage in some of the ethnic cuisine and you can experience it firsthand through events like the Tall Ships. Just be careful to time your drive through town correctly or else you'll spend a few minutes waiting for a drawbridge to come back down!
